Knowledge Matters

As a part of our regular community awareness event, we have been conducting community micking to aware community people on different aspects associated with Financial Literacy and Safe shelter.  In the course of conducting micking at Mohanpur-5 of Agnisar Krishnasarnwan Rural Municipality of Saptari district, participants were distributed with housing pamphlet. Amongst them was Bhuwan Acharya who had also received the housing pamphlet, was thoroughly engaged himself reading 12 safety major points highlighted on the pamphlet.   As were having light snacks at Mahuli bazar. Bhuwan was there holding the pamphlet. Out of curiosity, we asked him why he is so indulge in reading the pamphlet so painstakingly.  Then he started, inquiring about our program and where about, as his eagerness to know more was notice, then he was detailed about our organization and activities that we conduct at Saptari. The objective of the project was briefed to him.

He seemed to be comfortable after a short introductory session. Then he started narrating his story. He was bit emotional while talking to us. He said, that the content in this pamphlet are so important, if I and my family were aware of safe shelter then, I would be lucky to have my family with me now. It was in 2045 BS the earthquakes dismantle my home and I lost my wife and a daughter.  I was not aware of the safe shelter protocols then.

I would like to thank, Sahara Nepal and Habitat for Humanity Nepal for initiating this project. Our community is still ignorance and would prefer to build house in traditional methods. Thus, this program will certainly make those community people think once before building their houses.
